PARENT

ACT ONE:
A bathroom. A full washtub sits by the bathtub. The CHILD stands below it, wearing a shirt, a sweater vest, and a diaper. The PARENT holds a washcloth.

[Exit CHILD.]

PARENT: Hey!

[Exit PARENT, in pursuit.]



ACT TWO:
A living room.

[CHILD, bare-legged, runs across living room.]

[Enter PARENT.]

PARENT: Hey!
CHILD (still running): Hey! Hey! Hey, hey hey.
[CHILD reverses direction and runs past PARENT.]
CHILD (running offstage): Hey hey hey hey...
[Exit CHILD, pursued by PARENT.]

ACT THREE:
A kitchen.

[Enter CHILD, pursued by PARENT.]

CHILD: Hey! Hey hey hey hey--milk!
[CHILD points to box of milk on shelf, then turns to garbage can.]
CHILD (triumphantly): Laji!*

[Curtain]
